By , the station was only playing hits of the s and s, and even mixing in some lighter modern rock songs, as many other hot AC stations were doing at this time. The original plan was for the station to drop the "Buzz" format in favor of an oldies -based AC format, playing songs from to current hits. The station was to have launched on August 18, , with television commercials set to air.
