Great post! I was particularly intrigued by yet another movie sighting of Zorro's Cave. I can't find the whole movie online, but I just saw a clip on Youtube which for now is better than nothing. From the clip I saw, it seems the fake lion's den is not there when they show the main character as a child, while it's there when the main character is an adult.
Unless I was misled by camera angles. Since the movie is from , this is the cave's earliest appearance that I know of, predating the serial "Zorro's Fighting Legion" by six years. This means that the cave has a film history of at least 65 years, since the most recent movie in which I found the cave is "The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story" Which is by Disney And the irony is double, since you mentioned the movie in the same post for an entirely different reason.
Also, your post proves that the tree outside the cave exists since at least After reading that comment I asked myself which was the earliest sighting I could find of the tree, and until a moment ago my answer was undecided between the serial "Zorro's Fighting Legion" and the serial "Perils of Nyoka", depending of whether a rock formation I found in the former is actually Zorro's Cave or not.
Well, my answer is now "King of the Jungle", which predates both. The image of the cave as it appears today is also a treat, since it's one of the best pictures I have seen of the back entrance, and even the angle is new to me, even if the difference to other images is minimal. Very interesting.
