Her dance work spans installation, film, humor, and developing Aikido-based dance vocabulary. His work consists of a shifting combination of classical composition structures, nontraditional material generation, and theatrically-inclined performances. Sean enjoys collaboration with other artists and working with video, improvisation, and text. By using performance as a vehicle for art-making, Sean is interested in finding new ways to ask questions and upcycling old methods to create different perspectives within dance as a medium.
As a choreographer, he operates under the phrase, "Dance like no one likes you. Melissa works for The Joyce Theater Foundation and makes dances of her own when the two magical forces of time and space come together. She graduated cum laude from Marymount Manhattan College with a BFA in Dance and has choreographed for Phoenix Productions Evita , The Puppeteer Cooperative, as well as over 20 ballets for Eidolon Ballet where she has been resident choreographer since its inception in Joey focuses on Acro balance and fire dancing.
Her studies focus on the retention and the fusion of these traditions both in the Americas and in West Africa. She studied dance and women's leadership at Barnard College, where her research focused on the intersection of feminist leadership and improvisation.
Her dance films have been shown at Dance Film Lab and Videology. She is the artistic director of era Dance Collective, a company dedicated to finding empowerment through choicemaking in movement. For the last two years I have focused on contemporary dance while studying dance in college.
