A government spokesman said that the Greek Prime minister Costas Simitis stressed three aspects, which Greece believes that will increasingly affect the strengthening of security in the Balkans. First, he stressed the need to approve and carry out correctly the laws, which are in conformity with the international norms and aim at establishing the rule of law setting aside old mentalities. Another aspect, Simitis said, is the fight against organised crimes, weapons and drugs traffic. He also stressed the need to intensify the contacts between non- governmental organisations NGOs as those of the students, cultural, professional ones and local government bodies.
